Elias' role in this futuristic sci-fi is brief and limited to perhaps the first 10 minutes of the movie.  He plays Antonio, the biological father of Vincent (Ethan Hawke).  In this society, a person's future depends on their genetic makeup and most humans are "artificially created" in a lab to ensure them a perfect life, free of diseases and other debilitations that afflict "biological" children.   When Antonio finds out that Vincent is born less than perfect, he does not want him to have his same name.  That is reserved for Vincent's younger brother, who is born a "perfect" speciman.
